CAN is bringing nationally significant contemporary artists and institutional calibre art to Newark and the wider region. We will be showing the most exciting and forward looking of contemporary painting.
Our priority is a commitment to art itself, over ideological trends. Art that helps us make sense of our place in the world, to ask or answer questions we would not have thought to ask.
We want visitors to engage with, discuss and enjoy contemporary art, never to feel intimidated or lectured.
Where
Not from round here?
Newark-on -Trent, in the East Midlands, is only
75 minutes north of London by train.
There’s a population of over 3 million within an hour’s journey: Nottingham, Sheffield, Lincoln, Leicester, Derby, Leeds and York.
And, if you are from round here, you’ll be pleased to hear we will be in The Ossington, a landmark building opposite the c12th Castle.
